A:  This is up to you. The minimum scheduled time is 30 minutes (some exceptions can be made). The maximum is 120 minutes.

With certain health conditions we may require a doctor’s note as a precautionary measure.

Q:  What if I feel any kind of pain or discomfort during a massage?
A:  It is important to communicate with your massage therapist before, during and after your treatment. Please let the therapist know of any pain, discomfort or irritation. Q: What kind of massage should I request?
A:  We offer several different modalities of massage therapy. If you are unsure which is best suited for you, call our center and an experienced massage therapist will be happy to guide you in finding which is best for you.

Q: Are there any precautions when considering massage therapy?
A:  You shouldn’t receive massage if you are suffering from fever, any infectious disease, highly metastic forms of cancer, are intoxicated or have any undiagnosed skin problems.

When you arrive for your massage, you will fill out a client intake and give a brief medical history. You will be asked to list any conditions, illnesses, surgeries and medications you are taking. This will help the therapist assess what treatment is right for you and what precaution to take. The treatment will be adapted to suit the client’s needs and concerns.

Remember, our massage therapists do not diagnose. If you are unsure about any health issues, please consult your physician. There are certain health considerations that will require a doctor’s written consent in order for a client to receive any treatment at Keep In Touch.

Q: Should I receive massage therapy when I am not feeling well?
A:  If you are experiencing nausea, vomiting, fever, dizziness, vertigo or flu like symptoms it is best that you do not receive massage. Usually getting a treatment while under the weather results in the client feeling worse and also risks of spreading any contagious illness to others.

Q: Must I be completely undressed during my massage? Will I be covered?
    A:

For certain modalities we will need you to disrobe. The proper draping will be provided and all body parts will be covered except for the area we are treating.

Certain treatments, for example, AMMA Therapy and Shiatsu do not require undressing. We recommend wearing loose comfortable clothing when you receive these techniques.

Q: Do you massage pregnant women?
A:  All of our therapists are trained to give prenatal massage. This is a wonderful way for expecting mothers to relax, increase their energy and relieve discomfort.

During your session you will be comfortably supported with pillows and cushions. All of our massage rooms are equipped with a prenatal massage table. This table will give you the luxury of lying on your stomach, fully supported, if you wish.

Be sure to communicate with your massage therapist. Ask as many questions as you want and let them know of any concerns or discomfort.

Q: Do I need a doctor’s note to receive prenatal massage?
A:  We recommend you consult your physician before receiving prenatal massage. If you are experiencing any complications involving your pregnancy or have in the past, a doctor’s written consent is necessary.
